Teacher Workshop

Kim and I hosted our first teacher's workshop! It was called, "Powerful Presentations and Practical Products." Yes, we are alliterative nerds! The elders have blessed us with the opportunity to teach other teachers. We've been working hard on other projects, and this kind of dove-tailed with those projects.

So on Saturday, Kim and I met with 14 women and discussed strategies to teach Bible classes. The most rewarding part of the workshop was when the next morning, we saw 4 teachers use strategies we had discussed the day before.

Kim blogged more about it on our other website. Check it out. She does a good job detailing it more. And she has cute pictures.

I was married to the copier for several days.

Kim doing a venn diagram with the ladies. Flash back to bad geometry lessons, I know...but it's good for comparing and contrasting.

We learned alot about how to prepare for these, including the fact that we had twice as much material prepared as was presented! Better to have too much, right...?

We enjoyed doing this workshop for our teachers, and hope to be able to continue doing these workshops for the teachers here.

Spring Break

So, Jeremy got a Spring Break week off exactly 2 months after he started working at CCISD. Really? Really? So, I worked all week. We've learned, through this unemployment thing, that too much togetherness gets on my nerves. Well, really, he gets on my nerves. In a nice way. So, I worked, he played. With a to-do list.

Here's what he did...

refinished the door...
redid the lock on the door...

mowed the lawn...
trimmed the bushes...
My only request when I heard the power bush wacker in the background on the phone was "Don't touch the ginger!!!" Too late. Thanks whoever gave him the bush wacker for his birthday (mom. We need to talk before the next birthday event...)
Here's my boy after a week of slave driving...
He did good work, and also managed to get some rest in there, too.
Thanks, beloved husband, for all that you did during your Spring Break to make the house and yard look great!! I love you!

Wedding Food

Some of you have asked how our poletarian did while she was here. She did well, I think. There was a constant stream of all things chicken while she was here. Some of you have asked what I fixed. Well, I'll tell you.

Every day for lunch, chicken salad. My brother-in-law didn't know chicken came in cans. My mother-in-law didn't know grapes could go in chicken salad. Happily, they were both pleasantly surprised. My good friend OM said the secret to her chicken salad was celery salt. I used it liberally in my salad. I think she's right.

We had feta cheese chicken Thursday night. Yummy!

We had lasagna Friday night. There was vegetarian lasagna for the resident poletarian. I had the real deal. I fixed what my friend Hope calls Hostess Roulette for dessert. An untried recipe for a group. Here's what I fixed:

It's called Blueberry Sour Cream Cake. Here's how it went over:

I'd call it a keeper.

When I was in Lubbock a few weeks ago, Megan introduced me to GrillMates for chicken. It's easy, and it's grillable, which means less heat in the kitchen. Sounds good to me. We had the GrillMates Herb and White Wine Vinegar (or something like that) for dinner Saturday night. It was yummy, with only half a chicken breast left. Thanks, Meg, for making me look good! We did have left over wedding cake and blueberry cake for dessert.

We never did get to the strawberry shortcake I had made. Guess J and I will have to take care of that on our own. I think we'll manage!

Thanks to those who sent or gave me recipes for chicken. I really really appreciate it! I do think it's time for some beef now, though. Maybe pork. Anything but chicken.

The Wedding

This weekend was the wedding.

We did this:

and this (My mother -in-law made the wedding cakes)

Not much of this:

Lots of this: (My sister-in-law was the wedding photographer)

Late nights doing this: (I was asked to help make the party favors. I conscripted Bill.)

FINALLY, this!

Then more of this.

Update on J's grandmother. She was to go home from the hospital yesterday for a few days, then fly out to Seattle on Sunday. We have not heard anything different.

My bosses wife had some bad news yesterday. She had a scan done and there are more spots on her liver and lungs where the cancer has spread. We are all beseaching God for healing and wholeness for her, on this side of heaven.
Now, for two of my favorite photos from the wedding.
